Shotwell Middle School Bathroom Renovation
The scope of work included the complete demolition and renovation of two existing student restrooms, requiring careful coordination to access and replace aging plumbing infrastructure. Demolition consisted of removing floor finishes, ceiling systems, partitions, fixtures, and approximately 25 linear feet of wet walls to expose plumbing carriers, drain lines, and supply systems. This selective demolition approach allowed the team to investigate existing conditions while preparing the space for full reconstruction.
Reconstruction included installation of new plumbing carriers, drain and supply line connections tied into existing systems, and rebuilding of wall sections using CMU block. Interior finishes were upgraded with new porcelain floor tile, full-height wall tile, ceiling grid systems, and phenolic partitions. The project also included installation of new toilets, urinals, lavatories, flush valves, mirrors, grab bars, LED lighting, and other accessories to modernize the facilities and improve durability.
Additional scope elements included installation of a new mop sink and bi-level drinking fountains, along with plumbing investigation services using camera equipment to identify potential blockages or failures in existing lines. The project was executed within a compressed schedule, requiring efficient coordination of trades and materials to deliver fully functional, updated restroom facilities aligned with district standards.
